Our Story

The Antique Warehouse is a collection of unique items that have been curated over years and are now being exposed to the public. Most of the antiques are European (France and England) mixed in with North American (USA and Canada). The inventory also includes a number of contemporary items and modern accents. Many are statement pieces that can provide a distinction to any decor.

Where did they come from?

Daniel Gwartz was the co-founder of Dovetail Antiques in Westport, CT in 1997. Dovetail grew as a wholesale business in the Tri-State area servicing retailers, dealers, decorators, and some private clients. Regular buying trips to Europe (France, England and Italy) and in the USA and Canada established a unique source of inspirational pieces. Containers and deliveries were arriving every month. After establishing the business for 4 years, Daniel pursued his marketing passion to develop other new businesses while his partner continued to build and grow Dovetail. She ultimately evolved Dovetail into an interior design firm and much of the remaining antique inventory was put into storage.

After much demand we decided that it was time to roll up the door and expose the inventory. Many of the items are move-in ready to bring warmth in their new home. Some are just as they were when shipped over from Europe. They may need a little dusting, waxing or cleaning. Or they may need a little restoration, upholstery, or re-wiring. In any case, all of the items can be purchased ‘as is’ or we can also arrange for their restoration. As we unwrap and sort through the complete inventory we will continue to update the website with more products, photos and details. So take a look thru and let us know if you have any questions.
