A beautiful antique Brass Bouillotte Tole Candlestick Lamp with a single light. The small lamp features an adjustable tole lampshade that has been hand-painted in classic green and gold and topped with a decorative finial. The inside of the shade is white to reflect the light.

Bouillotte is a card game, popular in France during the 18th & 19th centuries. For light, they would use a bouillotte lamp. As the candles would burn down one would use a key, where the shade connects the shaft, to adjust the shade. On this lamp, the key is the arrow. The shade was made of Tole as it was non-flammable. The design of the dish base mimics the original style used with the card game.

The brass base has a single light socket with a switch on the wire. The lamp works well and the wiring is currently for Europe (socket and plug). Please inquire about converting for the USA or consider using an adapter, or removing to use the lamp with a candle (as originally intended).

19th Century, France

Dimensions: 8"W x 8" D x 15" H

Condition: The lamp is in great condition. Age and wear consistent with age. Some scratches on the shade can be seen in the photos.
