On this large 19th Century French double inkwell the bronze eagle commands attention with its extended wings spanning the full width. The symbolic bird is perched atop a pedestal and holding a ring in its beak. The ring has a hook that could be used to suspend a pen.
Below the eagle is a flaming torch gripped by the torrent sea. On either side are two round bronze urns each with glass ink containers inside. The urns have matching decorative lids with a finial cap. The entire bronze scene is set atop a sturdy white and rose-veined marble base. The bronze finish has a wonderful patina.

Condition: the piece is in excellent condition with a rich patinated finish. The lids are hinged however the right urn hinge has broken and the lid removes completely. Inquire about having it restored.
